Haf Power Solutions AS (HPS), part of ACEL Group, has been selected by Rem Offshore and Myklebust Verft as the power system integrator for the recently announced ST-245 IMR (Inspection, Maintenance & Repair) to be built at Myklebust Verft. This contract is an important milestone for HPS, and we are pleased to contribute to the next generation of vessels with advanced and modern technology that enables net zero emissions for the vessel.
This vessel, which will be named Rem Ocean, is a further development of build 82 at Myklebust Verft, the ST-245 ESCV REM Pioneer. Rem Ocean will enter into an 8-year charter agreement with DeepOcean – a historically long contract. DeepOcean has in turn secured a long-term agreement with Equinor.
The state-of-the-art 117-meter subsea vessel has been designed by Skipsteknisk to maintain high environmental standards and approach future zero emissions requirements. Rem Ocean will be equipped with dual-fuel methanol engines in combination with battery packs, which will reduce emissions by approximately 90%. All offshore lifting equipment, including the main crane, will be fully electric and will regenerate power back to the batteries.
Haf Power Solutions supplies cLion DC Grid. Our deliveries consist of cLion DC Grid, Li-Ion batteries, permanent magnet propulsion and thruster motors, Aux. Generator and cControl PMS/EMS. cLion DC grid is designed to minimize energy losses and ensure optimal efficiency. The system is also adapted to several segments such as offshore subsea construction and offshore wind.
Kristian Stavset, Head of Projects, Rem Offshore
"We are very pleased to be able to continue using the cLion DC Grid from HPS on our second vessel. The system will be optimal for demanding IMR operations, and the choice reflects our commitment to sustainable solutions and high operational reliability. The collaboration with Myklebust Verft and HPS will give us a power system that delivers both today and for the future requirements for zero-emission operation."
Bjørn Harald Norvik, CCO, Myklebust Verft:
"The choice of the cLion DC Grid from HPS for yet another vessel underlines the confidence in both the technology and our established collaboration with HPS. Although the first system is still under delivery, we have great confidence that this system will meet the strict requirements that we and Rem Offshore have set for, including flexibility, sustainability, efficiency, and operational reliability. We look forward to building on this partnership to develop future-oriented solutions in shipbuilding."
Marius Granlien (CCO, ACEL Group):
"We are grateful that Rem Offshore and Myklebust Verft have once again chosen HPS as their power system integrator, and that cLion DC Grid has once again been chosen as the core of the vessel's energy system. Through close dialogue with the shipping company and shipyard, we have further developed the system to meet the specific requirements of an IMR vessel. With cLion DC Grid, high fault tolerance, optimal operating efficiency and flexibility for future net zero emission operation are ensured. This contract marks another milestone for HPS and our commitment to sustainable solutions in the maritime sector."
